File extension z information

File extension Z files are UNIX compressed. uncompressing them requires using the appropriate program. These files are associated with the UNIX Compressed Archive File which contains personal data or program files in compressed formats. Z files were initially generated by the compression utility of UNIX which is now default and later replaced by the application GNUzip with a GZ file format. Z files are created or uncompressed using the Stuffit Expander of Allume systems, WinRAR orWinZip.
File extension Z like programs of archive files (that support the ZIP format) on Windows 9x/NT reveals they are numerous; such as TurboZip, NetZip, FileWrangler and WinZip. A ZIP file or other archive files may be compared to a container where a single or numerous files are squashed for size reduction while adding them to the file. Compression software makes use of mathematical equations of a complex nature to scan files for the repetition of data patterns. Smaller codes replace the repeated data which occupies lesser space.
